Nevsun Resources Eritrea Annual Report 2008

Nevsun Resources LTD. is reporting a loss of US$5.7 million for the financial year 2008. Compared to the previous year the loss has been reduced by US$6.3 million from US$ 12 million in 2007.

Nevsun has a joint venture with the government of Eritrea to explore gold, copper and zinc under a project called Bisha, which is estimated to contain 27 million tonnes of ore consisting out of 1 million ounces of gold, 800 million lb of copper as well as 1 billion lb of zinc.

The project has so far raised US$250 million for mining infrastructure from the Eritrean government, which holds a 40% stake and Nevsun Resources, which holds a 60% of the shares.

Bisha has not laid out, when it is expecting to turnover the business and make a profit. Nevsun Recourses is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under the Symbol NSU. Information about the financial result can be obtained from: Annual Report Nevsun Resources

Missile Strike in Sudan

The Israeli Air Force launched a missile strike on weapon smugglers last January within Sudan. The smugglers were on the route through the desert in order to supply Hamas with weapons in a convoy of 23 trucks, when an Israeli jet fighter accompanied by unmanned drones struck the convoy. It is said that the weapons originated in Iran and arrived in Port Sudan with the final destination Gaza. read more:

Eritrea is quiet a hidden spot for travel in Africa and underestimated in its tourism potential. The country offers many facets of geographical and cultural aspects. Eritrea will therefore most probably remain a hidden spot known only to the Eritrean Diaspora and their friends.

100 Female Camels Compensation for Murder

A member of an armed organisation in Somalia was sentenced to pay 100 female camels worth $45000 US Dollars for murdering a senior aid worker. The family of the victim choose the compensation of 100 female camels over a death penalty for the murderer. The sentence was spoken in a rural area with hard line Islamic laws. read more:
