March 17, 2014 (Frankfurt) - The trial of three Eritrean men accused of smuggling and human trafficking conspiracy has started in Frankfurt, Germany on Monday.
German prosecutors said that the three Eritrean men are charged of collaborating in smuggling of at least 24 refugees from Africa to Europe last summer.
According to the indictment, the refugees from Eritrea and Sudan were smuggled to Germany using public transport after arriving in Italy by sea. The traffickers used their flats in Frankfurt to accommodate the refugees before transfering them to their final destination in Scandinavia, prosecutors said.
