Eritrea: Eritrean wins US$166680 from Scratch-Off Ticket

Tesfaldet Tesloy

Thanks to a very lucky scratch-off ticket, Tesfaldet Tesloy, an Eritrean living in Sweden without a residence permit has won 10,000 Swedish Krona (US$1389) per month for the next ten years.

Three years ago, Tesfaldet was denied permission to live in Sweden with his status pending until Eritrean and Swedish authorities can agree on his case. The Eritrean appeared on Swedish TV on Saturday to collect his winning saying, “Winning the money feels great, now that I can fulfill my dreams”.

When Tesfaldet scratched off the lucky numbers, he did not know what they meant at first. Only after talking with the Lottery authorities he found out that he had cashed in big time.

After first moments of shock and disbelief, Tesfaldet is now very happy that luck was on his side.

The 28 year old Eritrean told Swedish Newspapers that he wants to stay in Sweden and that his dream is to work in the sports and health industry.

Although there are many uncertainties in his life, one thing is for sure, he will receive US$1389 each month for the next ten years.
