Somalia Revokes Fishing Licences from Foreign Fishing Boats

Mogadishu, Somalia: The country is taking back the licences for fishing boats from other countries, which are fishing in its waters. According to the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Recourses a new legislation is planned to restrict foreign vessels fishing near its coast in order to support the local fishing industry by reducing the competition. This came after local fisherman lost their livelihoods, because they were disadvantaged due to less sophisticated fishing equipment compared to their rivals. read more:
